What Is Aluminum Bracelet Anode?

Aluminum bracelet anodes are sacrificial anodes specifically designed for cylindrical tubular structures. They are semi-shell or segmented ring-shaped, composed of two or more arc-shaped components joined together to form a closed ring. With advantages such as 360° uniform current distribution, no external power supply required, easy installation, and suitability for complex working conditions in deep sea, tidal flats, and underground applications, bracelet aluminum alloy sacrificial anodes have become one of the preferred corrosion protection solutions for subsea pipelines, risers, steel piles, and storage tanks.

Wstitanium Manufactures Aluminum Bracelet Anodes

To meet the requirements of different pipe diameters, construction methods, and project standards, Wstitanium supports various aluminum bracelet anode structures and matching solutions. You could choose the appropriate structure based on the pipe’s outer diameter, installation window, transportation conditions, and ease of construction. Wstitanium manufactures a full range of aluminum sacrificial anodes strictly according to your drawings. They are used in seawater, marine mud, brackish water, saline soil, and more.

For Bracelet Structure

Half-shell Bracelet Anode

Half-shell Bracelet Anodes

The half-shell aluminum anode consists of two symmetrical semi-circular components that, when joined, form a complete ring. It is the most commonly used structure for subsea pipelines, suitable for pipe diameters from Φ76mm to Φ1220mm, and is easy to install.

Segmented Bracelet Anodes

The segmented bracelet aluminum anode consists of 3 to 6 arc-shaped segments, suitable for extra-large diameter pipes and irregular cylindrical structures. Its circumference can be flexibly adjusted, reducing transportation and installation difficulties. Current distribution is more uniform.

Multi-Section Assembly Anodes

Custom Manufacturing Bracelets Anodes

Wstitanium manufactures custom aluminum bracelet anodes based on requirements such as pipe outer diameter (OD), environment (seawater/sea mud/brackish water), lifespan, alloy elements, installation, and whether underwater installation is required.

For Bracelet Anode Installation

Bolted Bracelet Anodes

Bolted Bracelet Anode

Two- or multi-segment anodes are bolted to the pipe without welding. Installation, disassembly, and maintenance are convenient, making it the most commonly used type in engineering projects.

Welding Bracelet Anode

Welding Bracelet Anode

Anodes are welded to protected steel structure, providing a strong connection and stable conductivity. it is often used for permanent installations where subsequent disassembly is not required.

Hoop Bracelet Anode

Anodes are secured to the pipe using specialized clamps. This method offers the simplest installation, flexible pipe diameter compatibility, and suitability for quick and easy installation applications.

Wstitanium manufactures not only aluminum anode bodies (half-shell or segmented), but also steel cores/rings (materials: Q235/carbon steel/stainless steel/as needed, etc.). Matching fasteners (bolts/nuts/washers) and insulating coatings are also available.

Advantages of Wstitanium.

Wstitanium-cast aluminum anodes are made with low-iron, high-purity alloys. They strictly adhere to international standards such as NACE, DNV, and ISO. The theoretical capacitance of these aluminum anodes can reach up to 2930 Ah/kg, which is 3 times that of zinc anodes (820 Ah/kg) and 1.3 times that of magnesium anodes (2207 Ah/kg). The actual current efficiency is 85%~95% (≥95% for high-purity aluminum anodes), significantly higher than zinc anodes (65%~75%) and magnesium anodes (50%~60%). For the same protection requirements, Sacrificial anode usage is reduced by 60%~70%, and the total lifecycle cost is reduced by 30%~50%.

Electrochemical Performance

Based on ISO 9351:2025 and DNV-RP-F103, the core performance indicators under seawater conditions at 25℃ are as follows:

Alloying Elements

The alloying elements in the aluminum bracelet anode directly determine its electrochemical performance. The core principles are: Zn regulates the potential, In disrupts the passivation film on the aluminum surface, and Si refines the grain size. Fe/Cu are harmful impurities. Excessive impurities can lead to accelerated anode self-corrosion and decreased current efficiency. Wstitanium’s aluminum anodes strictly adhere to the following alloying standards: Fe ≤ 0.10%, Cu ≤ 0.01%.

FAQ

A1: ① Capacitance: Aluminum anodes have 3 times the capacity of zinc anodes, requiring less material; ② Weight: Aluminum anodes have only 1/3 the density of zinc anodes, making installation easier; ③ Lifespan: Aluminum anodes have a lifespan of 15-30 years, while zinc anodes last 8-15 years; ④ Environmental friendliness: Aluminum anode dissolution products are non-toxic, while zinc anodes pose a low risk of pollution; ⑤ Applicable environments: Aluminum anodes are suitable for seawater/saline water/saline soil.

A2: Q235 galvanized steel is preferred. The zinc plating prevents corrosion of the steel core. Titanium alloy is suitable for high-salt deep-sea environments. The steel core must be cast integrally with the anode, centered, to ensure reliable electrical connection.

A3: ISO 9351, NACE SP0492, DNVGL, ABS, GB/T 4948 certifications. Material reports, electrochemical performance reports, and third-party testing reports are provided, conforming to global marine engineering standards.

A4: MOQ can be customized, molds are supported. MOQ=1
